Fruit syrup facts and nutrition

Fruit molasses or fruit syrup are the concentrated fruit juices which are used as sweeteners. They are made with less expensive fruits such as pears, apples and pineapples in modern industrial foods. It is used to extend the shelf life of foods and products.

How to make Fruit Syrup?

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups fruit (frozen or fresh, or squeezed fruit juice). Peel the fruits, washed and cut into smaller pieces.

Instructions:

  1. Boil sugar, water and fruit.
  2. Turn on the heat and allow the mixture to simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes or till the fruit becomes soft and coming apart.
  3. Remove from heat and pour the mixture with fine mesh strainer.
  4. Allow it to cool completely.
  5. Store it in the refrigerator.
