Lavender oil is a favorite for many people because it has relaxing properties and smells great. If it is not already a part of your daily and nightly routine, you should start using it. Most people figure out how to use essential oils by themselves or read guides such as lavender essential oil uses guide by Made with Oils. Here are the simple ways that you can use lavender oil to reap maximum benefits:

    Wind Down Roller Bottle

You can use lavender essential oil topically on your skin. Before using an essential oil directly on your skin, make that it is therapeutic grade. Most of the oils that you find at whole foods and health stores are not therapeutic grade, which means that it is not safe to use them on your skin.

You can use therapeutic grade lavender oil on your skin by creating a roller bottle blend. Just add your preferred carrier oil such as coconut oil or sweet almond. Here are the things you need to make this wind down blend:

    • Ten drops of rosemary essential oil
    • 1 roller bottle
    • ten drops of lavender oil
    • carrier oil of your choice

    DIY Lavender Bath

Although you can buy bath salts infused with lavender, you can make your own at home. You just need lavender oil and Epsom salts. Epsom salts help in the easing of stress, tension, and muscle pain. You need the following to make your own bath salt:

    • fresh lavender
    •  cups of Epsom salt
    • 10-20 drops of lavender

Stir them together and store in a container. Use at least one cup of the salt for each bath.

    Diffusing

The most common and easiest way to use essential oils is by diffusing them with a tea light or aroma diffuser. Diffusing is an easy process: you just need to add lavender oil into some water and use a diffuser or candle to heat the mixture until it releases vapor into the air.

You can diffuse lavender oil before bed to help you fall asleep faster or during the day if you want to increase your mental clarity and focus. Although you can use lavender oil alone, mixing it with other oils such as frankincense essential oil will keep stress at bay.

    Lavender Sugar Scrub

You can make your own sugar scrub and use it to get rid of dead cells on your skin. You will need the following:

    • 10-20 drops of lavender
    • A cup of organic sugar
    • Fresh lavender
    • A quarter cup of sweet almond oil

Mix all the ingredients together in a small jar then store it in your bathroom cabinet. Use it twice per week all over your body before you shower.

    Pillow Spray

You can make your own pillow spray with ingredients that you have around the house. Lavender will promote relaxation at night so that you can sleep peacefully. Here are the things that you will need:

    • 8 ounces of distilled or filtered water
    • A spray bottle
    • 20-30 drops of lavender
    • 2 tablespoons of witch hazel

Mix the lavender, water, and witch hazel into the bottle and add several sprigs of fresh lavender if you have them. Screw on the cap and shake the blend of ingredients until they mix well. You need to make sure that you shake the bottle every time before using it.

Lavender essential oil has many benefits and all the above ways of using it are great. If you do not have a diffuser, you can always heat the water-lavender mixture on a stove.
